Back in the 80's I heard this talked about by friends. They said the President and congress never had any real power because they were always divided. They never made any real changes. I didn't give it much thought back then. I wasn't really in to politics. Since then I have seen two instances of when one party or the other had majority control of the executive and legislative branches and don't like what I saw last time or what I see now.

Dogs Don't Care About Dogma

The dog doctor costs more than the people doctor these days. At least it does for me. I have insurance (Paid insurance not Medicaid). My dogs stay healthy now but there was a time when I had to make some tough decisions. Even though it was tough, I'm glad that they were my decisions and not the government's.

My wife has been a labor and delivery nurse for many years and I am always hearing about the things she can't complain about at work. For example the young expectant mother, who is covered by Medicaid but she apparently didn't have time (I can't say money) for regular prenatal health care, so she comes to the hospital because something has turned from a minor problem into a real problem. Everything is paid for except...
My hat is off.

A Health Quiz for Barry

Mr. Adams,
I went page by page, checking out your questions to the president. Some of it I understood and some of it I didn't. It's all so cloaked in legalese that a layman like me can't understand half of it. That which I did understand, seemed ambivalent. This leads me to believe that down the road, it's all fair game for some slick lawyer to twist to his or her benefit. It'll be way too late then.

My question is this, "Why does my government think that this is even any of their business?" They can't seem to get anything else right. Do they actually believe they can tinker with our health care system and not royally screw it up as well?
