There's only one way to keep politicians from constantly seeking office. Remove their power. Limit the power of government to the duties expressed in our Constitution: securing the rights of citizens. If they have nothing to do with the economy - as they shouldn't - they would not have much power or interest in retaining it. The only proper function of the government is the Courts, and the military. State governments may have more powers but are still limited if securing rights is the goal.
The main thing wrong with the term limits movement is the "s" at the end of the word "limit."

What are advocates of term limits trying to accomplish? If they are trying to keep government from being run by career politicians, whose top priority is getting themselves reelected, then term limits on given jobs fail to do that.
