So they want to tax soda? O.K. I'll agree to that if all the liquor lushes in the goverment will put a heavy tax on their hooch. I offer a $5.00 tax on a fifth, $3.00 on a pint, $1.00 per jigger, $1.00 per can of beer. I think with this we can balance the budget. Teddy Kennedy has money let's charge on his hooch cabinet and that dollar on each case of Scotch his family gets forever, fanangled by his old man when he was ambassador to England should be cut in half and one half given to the govenment.
Course most of you aren't familiar with this, but I am. Wasteful spending? How about $10k toilets powered by Mercedes engines out in the waste land of Alaska where a cheap hole in the ice would have done, for the Alaska Pipe line workers.
IF the goverment is paying for a project it costs more, like serveral years ago a list of overpriced handtools sold to the government. Example: regular plain screwdriver $300.00 Miliken Textiles in S.C. published the list and there were many bloated prices. I just happened to remember the screwdriver item.

"Stimulus" Money: Men (Not) At Work

Couldn't agree with you more. There is another portion of the Bible that's really scary. "The Nation that forgets God will be turned into Hell."
All this stimulus money hasn't helped me one bit. How about you?

Thanks! A year ago on July 15,2008 I lost my female Sheltie named Hope. Both Shelties were not related. Duncan was a rescue.

We already have laws in the book that covers what you want. But as usual the powers that be are not paying attention;
The laws state "Thou Shalt Not Steal"
"Thou shalt not covet thy
neighbour's house----ect
These are and have been recorded for hundreds of years, but when Governments choose to do so, they ignore them and do their own thing and people just keep voting these lawbreakers into office.
To all voters in Illinois! Have mercy on the rest of the country for once. First you send us the "Great Separator" in 1860 and now the "Great Delapidator" in 2009.
I know there have to be some good people from Illinois for I have met some of them, but they can't seem to get in office. Please try and come up with a Conservative who loves the Constitution and will have our country at heart and I will try to help elect a governor who want cheat on his wife.

Would you like to pass on and cover a real funeral?
On June 20th my faithful Sheltie (Shetland Sheep Dog)named Duncan had a serious kidney failure and had to be Euthanized. Duncan could do such tricks as catch a ball in him mouth, play soccer and when I whistled "Whispering" he would sing along.
He never appeared at the Met nor the Grand ole opry but those who heard him thought he was wonderful.
There were only two who attended his funeral, but tears of sorrow were shed as we laid him to rest in a marked grave on our back lot.
There were not thousands who mourned him but he will be missed more than Michael Jackson.

The Road to Economic Demoralization

I never took economics in School, but having read Thomas J. DiLornzo's book, "The Real Lincoln" (DiLorenzo is a professor of economics in th Sellinger School of Bsiness and Management at Loyola College in Maryland) I learned about ("Mercantilism")falsely so called the "American system" This system prevailed in England during the 18th and early 19th Centuries. Many came to this country to escape this. Def. "a system of statism which employed economic fallacy to build up structure of an imperial state power as well as special subsidy and monopolistic privlege to individuals or groups favored by the state.
More specifically protectionism (legal protection from international comptetition through trade tariffs and quotas was a means...
Now you know how the South felt when forced by Gun point back into the union by the Great Separator, old Abe Lincoln.
And bless your heart, 149 years ago America's first Caesar came from Illinois and now here in 2009 another Caesar from Illinois hath appeared to take away more of our liberties only this time the Democrats have changed places with the Republicans of yesteryear.
History does repeat itself sho' enough! The only difference so far, is that he hasn't yet sent out the storm troopers yelling "The Union, The Union"

Thanks but I write a lot tongue in cheek. If we survive this next 3 1/2 years, without this guy bringing in total socialism and (and that seems quite possible with the Congress we have) The voters can go to the polls and give up on both parties and vote for a Constitutionalst which I have my doubts that they will do or secession will be the only salvation. I know it's been tried before, but isn't that what we did with Britain?
I really think this time we could be joined by some others above the Mason-Dixon Line and you have to admit that the South is much better prepared with many industries now located here. and then you guys have the Space Program in Texas.
Those who do not learn from history tend to repeat it. We all...
