Dr. Sowell, I think you have forgotten Reggie Roby who was the kickoff, punter, and place kicker for University of Iowa, and punter for the Miami Dolphins (and others) in his professional career.
Agreed ! After all, he preached that we are to love our brother as we love ourselves, or in today's language, to treat others only the way we would want them to treat us. That is the whole basis for libertarianism.

Does the Republican Party Have a Future?

darrelJ Wrote: Feb 11, 2013 9:08 AM
When the Republican party had an opportunity to unite behind a truly constitutional candidate, they chose instead to ridicule him and rally behind a RINO. It is no wonder that the party is, today, hardly distinguishable from the Democrat party. I see no future for today's Republican party, and I really don't see the leadership of the party doing anything to atone for the bad mistakes they made in 2012. I think we should all have listened to Washington in his farewell address when he warned us against factions. Party politics is at best a bad thing, but it has developed into something that is ruining this once great nation.

The Most Important Amendment

It did prohibit congress, but then the Constitution also states that it is only congress who can write legislation; not the president, not any executive bureau, and certainly not the courts.

"Howitzers, for instance, are not protected. Nor are .50 caliber machine guns, among others." ? Using Galen's logic, the only weapons that would be allowed would be muskets and swords. I believe the founders wanted any military weapon available to the people, who in fact, formed the militias. That applies today to any weapon that can be used by today's military as well as it did in the days of muskets and muzzle loading canon.

My Plan for Eliminating School Shootings

If you were president, you should work to do away with the need to ask any government for permission to carry, as it is an infringement to our right to keep and bear arms to have to ask for permission. No one, not the government and not the perpetrator, needs to know who is carrying and who is not.

I certainly hope this was all tongue in cheek. Nobody, except an elected politician could be that stupid.
If Romney was such an excellent candidate, the evangelicals, economic conservatives, and seniors would not have stayed home. Face it, the only good candidate the Republicans had was treated like a step child and as a result, they paid the price of defeat.............again.
They had that candidate in '12, but shunned him like he was the plague. The Republican party will never learn, and will suffer the same fate that the Whigs did.
You didn't have to wait until 7:30 to hear it from your daughter. We Ron Paul supporters have been telling you for months that Obama would beat any other candidate because they could not pull all of the needed voting blocks together; the youth, the independents, the Reagan Democrats, and the party loyal Republicans. The GOP blew it plain and simple.
