Running for Profit, Not President

Michael, if the only people that were "allowed" to run for President were those approved by the pollsters, bankers, Washington elite, and Lame Stream Media, then our votes would matter even less than they do now. Already, we are forced to choose between two candidates in the general election that are funded by the same people, and share virtually the same policies. At least now people like Ron Paul can find a voice in the primaries and spread the ideas of liberty and sound money economics. Of course, you're right, and some will only run for their own personal gain, but I'd rather have that then being forced to choose between two identical evils every 4 years. That doesn't make it GOOD for you big boy. Also, radiation from the sun IS dangerous. I'll go ahead and apply my sunscreen.
Ray, I think you somehow are taking Ron's argument for government getting out of marriage as an elimination of marriage. That's wrong. Ron would absolutely say that marriage is incredibly important for culture --- and that's why he wants government out of it! Hell, education is incredibly important for our culture, and that's why government can't be trusted to rule over it. Its the same exact principle that keeps government out of education that is begging to keep it out of marriage, but you neocons insist on cherry-picking some ideas over other so that it seems as if you are anti-state but are instead giant statists. How stupid.
Clearly you didn't read the article....

The problem with these neocons, like many of you have said, is that there is simply no ruling principle or "morality" that they follow. Sure, Ann says that she is a strong Christian, but any strong Christian knows that killing innocents, Muslim or not, is wrong. So the only way Ann can reconcile this is by deferring to some sort of Theocracy, or statism: she holds the state and its ability to convert non-believers higher than God's ability. What a shame she can't see through this, as she isn't stupid. She's just sticking to her guns, because she's willing to be labeled a bigot, racist, and neocon before she allows...
