Random sampling is an appropriate population sampling method only if the population being sampled is homogeneous. That is to say, it is appropriate if there is no otherwise identifiable classification such that those in one class have very different probabilities of polling answers than those in others, As far as voting is concerned, there are many groups whose preferences are to a great extent are easily predictable from the group they are in. Those who identify as democrats: as republicans; blacks. So, suppose we assign votes as for OB in the first and third and RR in the second, recording the poll results only for the others. How would this change the results? I think not very much. Which means the polls are nonsense.
To many liberals when they think about the "far right" their image is Hitler and Mussolini, and their followers. However, they are victims of a mistake. Both the Nazis (National Socialist German Workers Party) and the Fascists, were, in American terms, on the far left. All of these favored big government, Occupy Wall St type behavior, control of the press, government "czars" running industries, gun control, etc,, which are now the favored policies of the American left. In Europe, right and left have entirely different meaning. Right means nationalistic, left means favoring international cooperation, all entirely independent of being for or against big government or freedom. It is only with that definition that Nazis are on the right,
I believe the stockholders got stiffed at 0 per dollar, not pennies.
