Sorry Lon, if there is one thing we can count on in this, it is that it will be implemented badly.

Obama just doesn't have the stones to implement it on his watch as it would squash any chance of his re-election, small as that may be.

If it so self evident about the health care, why in the world would Obama the Humble not have it go into effect immediately after passage instead of AFTER the next presidential election, more than 3 years away?

"Come Watson come, the game is afoot"....
Just read your post and although I don't regularly visit Huffington Post, your letter was well thought out and a pretty accurate assessment of the situation. Guvmnt always seem to tackle problems at the 50,000 ft level and by doing so never seem to have the careful, detailed, thought out process that ends up in a good workable solution. They often times attack the effects and ignore the causes. Unfortunately, Obama is not going to pay any attention to your letter. This is about his getting his way much like a petulant child. Hopefully, cooler heads can prevail. No one in Congress nor the hinterlands disagrees that our health care system couldn't use some changes (in spite of what Obama would have you believe). We just want a different...
Sorry, but your logic is faulty. You charting my path is as silly as me charting yours. I can never get my head around your ideas and presumably you are in the same boat. Hopefully, there are more moderate liberals than yourself and we can find common ground.

With all due respect friend, you are barking the wrong tree. Most conservatives I know have a core set of values that they like to see in their elected reps. However, they/we all realize that there is never a "perfect concervative" because we aren't all from the same mold. Look at Mass. election. Is Brown my perfect conservative candidate? No, but in that state, he will do and had I lived there I would have voted for him. The reasonable people that lean left do the same I'm sure but what has happened is the radical left has hijacked your party and now, even though you had the majority to do whatever you wanted, you had so many in the 'tent' they couldn't agree on anything and you ended up with nothing (much to my relief by the way). We...

Help Obama? No, Help America

Rather sharp tongued with Lilly today but I understand as Lilly has gotten my goat a few times as well with her mostly off the mark comments. She is entitled to her opinions however, so don't be so hard on her. Enjoy reading you as you are pretty well informed and always have interesting things to add. By the way, please tell us what you think about Obama..:-)

Regards
Of course Obama will be replaced in 2012. No need for anyone to do anything because the public will be so disgusted with his meddling and obvious 'in over his head' record it will be a "anyone but Obama" year.
Polls show support for changing health care but also show little support for Obama's changes. Are there things that could be made better? Of course but sadly, that is not what Obama is doing. I suspect we will elect enough adults in 2010 to nullify anything Obama wants to do going forward and hopefully, can fix what he managed to get changed prior.

Regards
In your response to DS Michael you quipped 'btw: your ideas sound really nice but the idea of any of them actuall happening is slim and none even IF the GOP comes back to power.' Well excuse me if I don't hold my breath until the Dems make these changes either. DS has some good ideas and others on this board do also. I would suggest even you have a good idea or two but until we entirely gut this useless Congress full of lifers we will never get the above mentioned ideas in play. Would you join us in making sure no incumbent sees another term until such a time as we have started to see real change to clean up the mess left by way too many administrations?
With all due respect, your analogy is a bit off. It appears that the husband (Obama) has already designed and built the house and now, in order to placate the wife is asking her to suggest some colors and lets move in.

If you are really serious about fixing the problems we have in HC then start first by listing and agreeing on the major areas you see as a problem, list and agree on a group of acceptable changes in each area, tackle one area at a time crafting a bill (less than 25 pages) adressing the problem area and implementing the agreed changes, implement that solution without any pork, and then tackle the next area. That way the bills are small and manageable (actually can be read and understood by the masses), you build on...
