From the instant the Sen. Feinstein announced her intention to introduce this draconian assault on the second amendment, not only has a majority of the American people come out against this legislation, the other target, the NRA has seen record membership. Couple this with gun sales in unprecedented numbers and it is clear that this ban on guns is unwanted. What the people want, their demands, regardless of clear majorities however, is never of any importance to the left. They see the murders at the Sandy Hook elementary school as the signal to move on their agenda and nothing, period, is going to change their minds on that intention. I do so despise dictatorship.

Washington politicians shouldn’t be taking advantage of recent tragedy to try to push an aggressive gun control agenda. Real assault weapons—machine guns—are already functionally illegal, and they have been since 1934. This proposal would have done nothing to prevent the terrible murders in Newtown, but it would limit the constitutional liberties of law-abiding citizens.
