Sadly, revelations of this nature are useless. If confronted, Pelosi will accuse Rodriguez of lying, get several liberal members of Congress to condemn him and pound his character mercilessly until the story dies and no one remembers that it was originally about Pelosi. We really do need to get better on staying focused on the original objective.

Three years ago, I wrote a satirical column "defending" Nancy Pelosi against accusations that she had lied publicly about being briefed by the CIA about the use of Enhanced Interrogation Techniques (EITs) -- including waterboarding -- on enemy detainees as far back as 2002.  Here's her infamous denial:
