In response to:

We Know How to Stop School Shootings

Hm, the discussion now it's about banning assault weapons, not nation-wide concealed-carry. Australia had such a ban and since then no more shootings involving assault weapons. More concealed-carry is just like giving more money to an already in-debt person.

"giving more money to an already in debt person" what side are you arguing? kinda like the pres refusing to stop spending but "i am also going to ban assault weapons" ...squirrel!

Typical liberal problem solving logic. A shooter uses semi-automatic weapons to kill 27 people and the left reflexively decides to ban "assault rifles", not even knowing (or stating) exactly what they mean by the term "assault rifle".

Will the new legislation proposed by that crook from SF, Diane Feinstein, ban the guns that Adam Lanza used in Newtown?

NO!! It will NOT!!

"Assault rifles" are the scary looking ones.
Dan_AZ Wrote: Dec 20, 2012 10:16 AM
oh wiseone, I'm more to the Right than you think actually :) "assault" = semi automatic and above. Lanza's mother should not have had assault weapons in the house. Ok, if it's about collecting them, it should be under key and no bullets whatsoever.
Violent crime rates went through the roof everywhere. More concealed-carry = more chances of "accidents".
wiseone Wrote: Dec 20, 2012 10:28 AM
Do you know what a "semi-automatic" weapon is?
wiseone Wrote: Dec 20, 2012 10:34 AM
Let me explain it to you libbie.

Most handguns are semi-automatic, including the ones cops are REQUIRED to carry, even when they're off-duty. So are most hunting rifles. About the only weapon commonly used by the average US citizen that is not semi-automatic is a shotgun.

So no, you don't know what you're talking about. To the contrary, you are a perfect example of the kind of uniformed, ill-informed, miss-informed conceited liberal idiot who should NOT be recommending or proposing legislation on guns.
Dan_AZ Wrote: Dec 20, 2012 10:44 AM
Being rude is not helping. Police, of course, can carry whatever weapons they need. Police and military are above any weapons ban.
I'm not recommending or proposing anything, just sayin' that owning semi-automatic/automatic weapons and large magazines is stupid. If it's about defence, regular shotguns are ok. If it's about hunting, you can have your rifles no pb. But there's no reason to have semiautomatic/automatic weapons.

You have already demonstrated your ignorance on the issue. Stop embarrasing yourself by trying to make 'wrong' into 'right'. You're only succeeding in making 'wrong' into wrong and foolishly stubborn about it'.

Let's recap for clarity.

I challenged Feinstein's knowledge of guns by asking what she meant by "assault weapons". You claimed it meas "semi-automatic weapons" and above. I pointed out that in your ignorance you were proposing to ban nearly all handguns and rifles as "assault weapons" which we both know is not what Feinstein is proposing.

I used police handguns as an example of semi-automatic weapons so you, the ignorant one, might actually learn what a semi-automatic weapon is.

Instead of realizing your error, you foolishly interpreted my example as an accusation that you were suggesting we take guns away from cops.

This will be my last comment to you in this discussion, as you are rapidly proving that if I argue with a fool too long people will be unable to tell which one one of us is the fool.

Dear Cicero,
You do not understand the issue. The goal is to get rid of a particular type of weapon, not to reduce crime or protect children. Liberals will never consider the only proven effective means to improve children safety and reduce crime (elimination of weapons free zones and expand CCW). They want to fee good, not solve problems.

In the wake of a monstrous crime like a madman's mass murder of defenseless women and children at the Newtown, Conn., elementary school, the nation's attention is riveted on what could have been done to prevent such a massacre.

Luckily, some years ago, two famed economists, William Landes at the University of Chicago and John Lott at Yale, conducted a massive study of multiple victim public shootings in the United States between 1977 and 1995 to see how various legal changes affected their frequency and death toll.

Landes and Lott examined many of the very policies being proposed...
