Yes, it's useless to ban guns. Best: monthly tax for each gun you own and keep in the house. Call it "gun insurance" for example. $200/month for a regular pistol $1000/month for an AK47 :) No one will take your guns, keep 'em but pay up.

The New Year is just around the corner and although the Senate still hasn't made a fiscal cliff deal, Senator Diane Feinstein already has parts of new gun control legislation ready to go.
