The second Amendment is not about self-defense (although recent court rulings have erroneously ruled that it is). It's about tyranny, and the fact is it was written when weapons technology was quite primitive and there was relative parity between the government and the citizenry. Fact is, right now, if the Gov't wanted to become tyrannical, they could do it, and no amount of private weapons ownership could stop it. So, Ted, you raving idiot, if your definition of being a "free man" is the ability to defend yourself against tyranny, you aren't even CLOSE to free today. Like it or not.

If the government knew they could roll over us, they would. Don't be foolish enough to believe that government isn't about expanding itself.

Whether defending from a foreign invader, a tyrant on the throne (metaphorically, so don't get your panties wadded), or a thug trying to take you life, liberty, or property from you, it is ALL self defense.
