Telling people to get off welfare and get a job falls flat when unemployment is already 8% or more. Business owners aren't going to open up their wallets and hire Americans when Asians work so much cheaper. The free market race to the bottom has ended. How's the view from down there?

Journalist Bill Moyers, who worked as an assistant to President Lyndon Johnson, shared memories in a column last year about how his old boss thought about our entitlement programs.
