In 1975 we exited Vietnam (ran away would be more like it) and the economy didn't respond until Carter's last year in office. Exiting Afghanistan will probably have the same delayed effect. Is today's world wide slump the result of U.S. over spending or is the spending a result of the world wide slump?

That was probably because of carter's ineptitude. The present jerk is spending us into a continuing recession, no matter what the numbers say. Just ask all the willing-to-work people who are either un- or underemployed.
