Obviously the left would think that "being taught a lesson" is a threat. What else could explain the operation and success of our educational system?

Larry, One of the greatest unspoken and perhaps even unknown disasters of recent years was when the Republican party refused to support you run for office. Could it be that a time will come when you will consider it again?

Absolutely dead on! Progressives and their ilk look at what would be nice instead of what is possible when making legislative decisions. Then, when what they have done doesn't work, instead of understanding that there are things that government meddling can't fix, they use their failure as a mandate to meddle more -- because that would be even nicer. More of the wrong medicine can never cure what ails you, but it might make you even sicker or sick in a new way!

Anybody who knows anything at all about either the healthcare or the health insurance industries knows that the bulk of the problems those industries are experiencing and the bulk of their astonishing cost increases are the direct result of government meddling.

The reason that hospital costs are so high goes directly back to Medicare's policy of demanding "cost reports" from hospitals and then paying only "the lesser of cost or charges" (This is a PROVEN incentive to keep increasing costs so you can keep increasing charges!))and continues through the "DRG" payment plans (the biggest reason for excessive readmissions) of today. I'm tired of white fools toadying to black racists. The reality of it is that facts don't matter: If a black child is helped by whites, that's racist patronizing. And if a black child is harmed or repressed by whites, that's racist, too. To a black racist, nothing a white can do is not evil. If, just for simplicity, we round the population of the United States down to exactly 300 million people, and if we assume that EVERYONE, without exception, will live to be 100 years old, we can absolutely PROVE that 3 million people will die every year, and that on the average,more than 8,219 people will die every single day -- WITH OR WITHOUT HEALTH INSURANCE! At any average life expectancy less than 100 years, EVEN MORE WILL DIE!!!!!

On the last (Oh, how I wish it really were...)episode of the Bill Maher show, Maher said that 45,000 people die each year as a result of having no health insurance.

Is Maher purposely "spinning"? Or is he really the moron he seems to be?

Whoever those people were, IF they were, they certainly didn't die of "lack of insurance." There must have been some other disease, condition, or trauma involved, and, if so, it's reasonable to believe that at least some of them would have died ANYWAY, health insurance, or not.
