Great summary - of both candidates. I'll be voting for the principled lady.
And even then, most factories were fine - Ford paid $5 a day to attract workers to move to Detroit (not the popular mis-conception: to create a market to buy his cars). http://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2012/03/04/the-story-of-henry-fords-5-a-day-wages-its-not-what-you-think/ Also The Jungle by Upton Sinclair (cited by many as an account of the horrid conditions in meat-packing plants) was fiction: http://teconom.blogspot.com/2011/04/jungle-is-fiction-and-upton-sinclair-is.html
Piers is just repeating the DNC talking point just like AM750 in Atlanta. When they reported on the Benghazi report this week, they stated "The report says there is blame to go to all sides" (love how they slyly implicate Repubs) ... "& that Ambassador Chris Stevens may have been largely to blame." No mention that the report states that Obama was told it was a terrorist attack "while it was happening". And to think this is the station that carries Rush. Here's the BS story: http://www.wsbtv.com/news/ap/political/report-systemic-failures-led-to-benghazi-attacks/ncqPJ/ Here's the better report: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/01/14/benghazi-transcripts-top-defense-officials-briefed-obama-on-attack-not-video-or/

It was created by the 1st Senate in 1789 - the Constitution was only ratified in 1788. I would posit that the members of the 1st Senate are de facto "Founders of the Country".
I cancelled my subscription last year after getting sick of all of the fortune articles proclaiming the "green energy" and "electric car" companies were viable businesses without any mention of their reliance on government handouts in order to compete with traditional energy and car businesses.
Hopefully Lugar goes now and then Saxby "Gang of 14" Chambliss in GA and replace him with a real conservative in 2014 to better reflect the Georgia voting populace.
You must have been born after the Carter years, when unemployment & interest rates were both higher than in this recession. Maybe you were in still in diapers when Reagan slashed taxes, eliminated needless bureaucratic regulations, and led the dismantling of USSR which created a peace dividend that allowed for dramatic cuts in defense spending. Oh by the way, the GDP tripled under Reagan. Perhaps you were going through puberty when Gingrich led a Republican takeover of the House and then over-rode Clinton's two vetoes of welfare reform and then passed budgets that provided a surplus for the first time in 40 years. Now that you have graduated into the land of Obama, might I suggest you study some history in your free time.
