and the republican answer should have been: of course. you can have all the tax you need to destroy what is left of our economy. in exchange, we want the concessions that will save our very population for thatever recovery we can manage after the liberal tidal wave has receeded. we want an end to immigration, and send all the illegals and the (gasp) muslims home. we want to be sure that the hyperrich enemies of our country are taxed at the same rate as our patriots. we want a return to papter ballots that are tracable and accountable, and elections voided if there is fraud. we want an end to transfer payments to the democratic party constituency, whose only duty has been to stumble to the polls every 2 years and vote wrong

I’m very concerned about both the fiscal cliff and its possible replacements. It will be bad news if we get an automatic tax hike on January 1, and it will be bad news if that tax increase is replaced by an even more odious plan concocted by the White House.

But the cliff is not our biggest fiscal problem.
