chapman is a democratic operative who doesnt even pretend to be conservative. he spouts irrational bs and calls it truth. we are the most policed nation in the world. lawful citizens are beset at all times with armed agents of the government who stop them at will, breathalyze them, make sure they have insurance papers, registration papers, tag lights, both headlights, etc, etc. they must drive at a set speed and distance, park in the prescribed manner within the allowed hours, but these legions of armed agents of tyranny cant recognize a flagrant violater of our immigration laws, will not arrest, punish, or even inconvenience people who are illegally in our country, and will not raise a finger against those who aid and abet
Everyone in Washington is showing new interest in immigration reform. President Barack Obama needs to do something to cement the loyalty of Hispanics, who did so much to re-elect him. Republicans seem to grasp that they had better soften their hard line unless they want to forfeit any hope with Latinos and Asian-Americans.

Both sides also agree that a balanced, two-part approach is in order: stricter enforcement and improved border security on one hand and a pathway to legalization on the other. It's an excellent plan -- except for that first part.
