You cannot crush the 'racist Republican" meme unless and until it is exposed as the lie that it is. There is no lack of problems that we must overcome, but one group of people being essentially and inevitably oppressing another based on skin color is not one of them. Tons of mistrust, suspicion, ill-will, mis-use (the list is almost endless ) flows BOTH WAYS and are a cultural phenomenon--not something based on how much melatonin one has. The ultimate irony is that melatonin, the element that accounts for skin color, is exactly the same color in all humans--only the amount varies. That alone shows how ridiculous is the lie of 'racism!'
Much as I like and respect Dr. Carson, I have wondered what the broader picture of him would look like as he delved further into politics and hoped he would stand up under the scrutiny. Well, his comment on mandating vaccinations is a great big warning as far as I am concerned. It is bad enough when anyone says we should have to give up our essential liberty--the liberty of control of our bodies. His call on this issue is further troubling since his being an M.D. will cause many to accept something from him that they might not from anyone else without that credential.
