The New York Times Calls (again) for Higher Taxes on Middle-Class Americans

Dan107 made an excellent point; our lawmakers and those who graduate from the most prestigious colleges-thus, the ones who get the most influential jobs-are those who are rich enough to afford expensive educations, and thus are the ones indoctrinated by these Marxist ideologies. They have no empathy for the middle class, because they have never had to worry a day in their lives where their next meal was coming from, or if they should pay the rent or the lights this month. They've grown up with the philosophy that peons like us are there for their personal convenience, to be used as they please. All pay, and no say. It will never occur to any of them to let us prosper; they really believe we aren't capable of using our own money effieciently

I don't think it's necessarily wealth that makes these twits think this way. It's the "snooty factor", thinking that they're better than others just because of a family name or connections they may have. Sure, wealth can play a part, but being rich doesn't automatically turn someone from being smart and pleasant to being greedy and selfish. There are plenty of hard-working people who have achieved financial success and who don't feel entitled to lord it over anyone else. Unfortunately, the small percentage of the rich and snooty are the most vocal and tarnish the rest with their attitudes.

"Snooty factor." I like that.

All statists want much bigger government, but not all of them are honest about how to finance a Greek-sized welfare state.

The President, for instance, wants us to believe that the rich are some sort of fiscal pinata, capable of generating endless amounts of tax revenue.

Using IRS tax data, I’ve shown that this is a very inaccurate assumption. And I’ve also used IRS data to show the President that there are big Laffer-Curve effects when you try to rape and pillage high-income Americans.

Heck, even the Europeans have realized that...
