I am an unhappy owner of an iPhone 5. I liked the iPhone 4 a lot--better than competing Google and Microsoft mobile environments which I also use on other devices. So I preordered the iPhone 5 before the iOS 6 upgrade booted Google Maps and YouTube off my devices, replacing them with an integrated cyberspy called Facebook. I use FB but do not want it to have access to my contacts and photos. When I unbricked my phone for the first time I found my contacts list contaminated with hundreds of FB friend cards, most with nothing more than an email address or FB chat link. I can only assume FB got a free look at the extensive personal and business contact data in my real contacts list. Oh, I got more...

Did you know that FB includes for itself the right to use any of your photos for its own purposes, for non exclusive use, without compensation or permission from you? Few people know that. I've had to warn my photo club members not to post any of their photos on FB if they wish ever profit by their reprint and sale. By posting them on FB, you give up excluse rights and ownership.

As for the folks wanting me to "friend" them, that's the main reason I canceled my account. I have about 5 good friends in life, yet over 6,000 people were seeking my "friendship." Who the hell are those people?! Get a friggin' life, morons! You are not worth more as a human being because you have 10,000 friends on FB!!!

Siri commands are processed in Apple servers. My crummy rotten no-good Android phone has voice commands that the phone understands. I don't need or want the extensive stuff Siri can do.

...remember the supposed reception issues of the iPhone 4? My iPhone 4 had far better reception than this phone, especially of wifi signals in my home.

Moving the headphone jack to the bottom is gonna be a real problem for Mophie and other battery case designers. I depended on Mophie to give me enough battery life to make the iPhone worth it. We shall see how they solve this problem.

Siri is often unresponsive in my iPhone 5, often hanging on routine requests like "call Mama at work." Even Windows Mobile from 5 years ago had better voice integration.

I have a somewhat significant iTunes media commitment that will require migration if Apple doesn't fix these problems. So far I'm beyond disappointment to pure aggravation.

I’m not an Appleite, Appletonian, Applethusiast, or whatever else the Apple lovers call themselves.

However, the other night I savored the same thrill of those who wait in line for hours for the newest Apple product.

In fact, it’s the same thrill that people experienced while waiting in line to see the bearded lady, or the two-headed boy, or the even the boxing kangaroo that was often exhibited by P.T. Barnum.

Without question, Barnum knew that curiosity and lemming behavior went hand-in-hand.

If the “barker” was saying...
