Have you ever seen a copy of The Anarchist's Cookbook? You can buy it on line, and it details how to make explosives out of common household objects. So, by the way, did the Gilbert Chemistry Lab I got as a child from Santa, by way of Sears Roebuck. Parents referred to them as "Blow Yourself Up Kits."

Actually, teh Oklahoma City bombing may be a good example. It was perpetrated with a homemade explosive concocted using then legal materials. Since then, large purchases of those materials have been regulated as well and I don't recall any attacks using that type of bomb.

When’s the last time you heard about a deranged gunman going on a shooting spree at a shooting range? Other than a spoof article on the Onion, a shooting range isn’t the preferred venue for a murderous shooting rampage.
Despite all of the shooters, guns and ammo, I feel safer at a shooting range than just about anywhere else. It doesn’t require expert analysis to understand why gun-free areas, not shooting ranges, are the preferred venues of those who want to murder as many victims as possible before encountering return fire.
