Libertarians' Awkward Bedfellows

I have long felt that we are taking the wrong approach in the War on Drugs. We have spent billions trying to keep people from doing themselves harm and or killing themselves by using drugs. What if we took the opposite approach and said, "Hey, it you want to kill yourself using drugs that's fine with us but we aren't going to spend one dime of tax payer money to save your ignorant assss." Legalize heroin, cocaine, meth and whatever else people want to use to kill themselves with the understanding that if you steal someone else's stuff to support your habit it's 50 years in the pen. In 10 years they'll all be dead, problem solved.

Give them their drugs and lock them up. They have already chosen to lose their liberty to a drug. It is expensive for the rest of us to make sure these people do not hurt themselves or others.

Or we could just shoot them.

Supply and demand. If it is legal, the costs will go down and crime to support the habits will also drop. We will not need as many police so gov cost will also fall. Courts will be emptier, jail cells will be open, lawyers will be unemployed, and etc. Guess who is against your idea.

Madison, gangs and organized crime are not going to disappear if drugs are legalized. You do not understand either.

Gangs and organized crime switched from the newly legalized alcohol to the illegal drug market. This happened after prohibition. What did you fail to understand? The other stronghold is the union racket. Ever heard of Hoffa?

Stop counting Suicide by firearm as a problem. More than 90% of the people who commit suicide by whatever means are either under the influence of drugs or alcohol. So be it. The Gun is not the problem so stop saying it is. Provide "Loaner Guns" to those who don't own one themselves and let them get it over with before we spend a bunch of time and money trying to save them from themselves. There are hundreds of thousands of churches that will councel these people for free if they are willing to let them. If not, kiss 'em goodbye and let 'em remove themselves from the gene pool.

covey the problem, and I agree with your thinking, is liberals will then say these poor people need help and the gov't should step in and help them

Last week, Conservative pundit Ann Coulter told me and a thousand young libertarians that we libertarians are puss- -- well, she used slang for a female body part.

We were in Washington, D.C., at the Students for Liberty conference, taping my TV show, and she didn't like my questions about her opposition to gay marriage and drug legalization.

"We're living in a country that is 70 percent socialist," she says. "The government takes 60 percent of your money. They take care of your health care, your pensions ... who you can hire ... and you (libertarians) want to suck up to...
