Democrats just don't have enough money to spend so they need to raise taxes. The 2013 projected receipts to the US Treasury are $2.9 Trillion. That is more than the entire GDP of over 95% of the countries in the world but it's not enough for Democrats to spend. We can't cut things like $167.5 million to The Endowment for the Arts or another $167.5 million for The Endowment for the Humanaties, or $420 million to help low income people file law suits. Harry Reid told us we can't cut funding for the Cowboy Poetry Festival in Nevada. So much spending and so little money.

Profoundly irresponsible?  Of course.  Politically insane?  Not really.  I'll expound on the second point in a moment, but first, let's survey the brazen talk from Team Blue -- with massive, recession-inducing tax hikes hanging in the balance.  Our new friend Patty Murray is at the front of the line:
