ken (i'm assuming): superficially, this depends on WHAT it is you are calling the "gift". Jesus, of course, was referring to the gift as it reflected the size of the SACRIFICE and the measure of the SOUL of the donor -- the point being the worth of one's works in emulating the sacrifice of Jesus himself. on the other hand, if the "gift" you are measuring is the BENEFIT to the receiver, then the object one is measuring is potentially an altogether different thing.
