If the IRS employees were so damned innocent, why didn't they blow the whistle? Someone told them to target the tea party. They knew it was illegal. But instead of speaking up, they cheerfully complied. Don't give me this junk about them being hard-working, honest & unbiased. The facts prove otherwise.

Actually, they didn't dump any actual gold. They sold short. It was a naked short so it is clear they were manipulating the gold market.

Ms Kelly: We are talking about doing a complete rewrite of the tax code. It is idiotic to suggest that we put in provisions we KNOW are going to be a problem and suggest that our kids and grand-kids can sort it out. It is much better to design the best tax system we can & then put it into place. And the prebate is a horrendous feature that should be eliminated .

ryoung -- The IRS does not say that taxes are voluntary. They say they have a voluntary system of tax compliance -- i.e., people fill out their own tax forms & send in their money "voluntarily". It is true that if you don't "volunteer", you go to jail. But it is different from the "involuntary" alternative being considered in the UK. There they want all money sent to the government and the government will provide the worker whatever is left after taxes.
