Moonbat: Here in Tennessee, we know Congress is terrible in large part BECAUSE of our (GOP) Senators. They vote with Reid every time their vote is needed by the Democrats.

Mike: It is NOT a slippery slope if we have a law that says convicted felons, people in jail, prison or insane asylum at the time of the selection, and people who have been adjudicated to be mentally incompetent cannot be eligible for inclusion in the list of people who may be selected for office. These are clear cut criteria and do not discriminate against anyone because of their views, sex, race, religious convictions, etc.

Johansen: To quote Mr. Madison, “I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.” That include "foreign aid". Look at the facts. If we cut ALL foreign aid, Israel would be a net beneficiary. We give more to Israel's enemies than to Israel.

Dyadd: It would be much better. Instead of career politicians (i.e., scumbags) we would get normal people with common sense and common decency.

MIke: First of all, only eligible people would have their names put in the "hat". Convicted felons, the mentally incompetent, etc. would not even have their names in the drawing. And look at the people we DO get in Congress now. We get people who text nude pictures to people, molest pages and interns and consort with hookers. We get bankrupts, gangsters and thieves. What we DON'T get is average ordinary people like yourself. And that's what we need -- people with common sense and common decency.

Mike: Of course ALL laws SHOULD apply across the board. But as you and Dyadd point out, they rarely do. As for money being "speech", I will not answer that the Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that it is speech -- even though it has. I will show that it is without reliance on their rulings. A campaign contribution is meant to pay for a politician to get his message out. That message is speech. Therefore, the contribution is, at least indirectly, a form of speech. It is a way of saying that the giver prefers a particular message.
