In the universe of "party affiliation changers," it seems to me to be overwhelmingly from left to right. Other than David Brock, Arianna Huffington, and Arlen Spector, there are just not too many grown adults in possession of their faculties who decide liberalism is better than conservatism. What's that old saw? Anyone under 30 who is not a liberal doesn't have a heart, while anyone over 30 who is still a liberal doesn't have a brain........

Back in May of 1999, I made a decision to leave the Democratic Party. It was an easy decision. I had been a Democrat for 11 years. I voted for Dukakis when I was a committed leftist. But, later, when I became a pro-life conservative, there was no room for me in the party. So I became a Republican and also joined the NRA. I've been a straight shooter ever since. Excuse me if that last line sounded heterosexist. I’m a work in regress....
