Sheldon Addleson is the big-donor traitor on the Republican side.
He was only (semi)strong in the primaries and actually had Kris Kobach as an advisor. After he locked up the nomination the etch-a-sketch was shaken and he ran away from immigration and never talked to Kobach again. We never had a strong enforcement choice either in the primaries or the general election.
Also shown by hispanic voting after the 1986 amnesty... the Hispanic vote for the Republicans was lower in 1988 than in 1984. They vote for bigger government which 70% prefer according to a Pew poll.
There are websites like VDare.com that give rational solutions backed up by facts. It's very informative.
I wonder how much more like Mexico we will be in 10 years and whether the illegals will still want to come here. Obama already decreased illegal immigration by not letting the economy recover.
Chries, Actualy polls show that the majority of Americans want immigratino laws enforced. Also, illegal immigration affects you personally in a lot of ways with higher crime rates (needing more enforcement and encarceration money), higher out of wedlock birthrates (needing more welfare money for the kids), higher numbers of unpaid emergency room visits (causing your insurance rates to go up)..........
"There's no reason for it not being secured". Really? Then it's just an accident that it hasn't been since 1986. Oops, we just forgot. Duh!

Carlos Slim also illustrates the type of society that the Elite in America (left and right) are trying to create here. They are perfectly fine with creating a dual class society with the few rich having all the power and luxury with the mass of poor unable to oppose them. The richest man in the world lives in a third world country and amnesty will be a wonderful thing for the American Elite, not so much for the rest of us who will have to live here when America has third world levels of crime and other social dysfunction.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness........oh and American Citizenship for the 7 Billion people in the world. Yeah, that makes sense. It's a good thing he's not giving away Zimbabwean Citizenship, he wouldn't be able to pay people to take that.

It's a false arguement to say that your exact particular situation applies in anyway to the population at large. Throughout this whole thread all you talk about is you. Get off the ego trip and realize that individuals are individuals and groups are groups. Public policy has to be about groups (hence the "public").
