FDR saw the abysmal poverty so many seniors lived in and created a pension plan run by the government - you know the Great Satan. Now it may not be the greatest thing since sliced bread, especially to the extreme right wingers, but you ask any senior about it and you'll find out how essential it is to their living standard.

Look this is how it breaks down: Neither party EVER cuts spending. The Republicans talk a good line but they've never ever done it. But, its the way they spend that separates them. Dems tax and spend. Repubs borrow and spend. And there's only one reason we are 16 trillion in the hole...

The Cato Institute did a study called: "Assessing the Reagan Years," which showed that under Reagan, federal spending actually increased from 23 percent to 24 percent of gross national product, while payroll tax increases resulted in a net tax increase for most Americans. These are the facts and they are indisputable.
