To assume that Russia is defunct is careless indeed! Probably the biggest player in international arms and other trade in involved in cutting edge technology! No Russian Bear is ever safe for petting.

It is a common liberal approach to oversimplify complex issues. a comparison is often made between international neighborhoods and actual American street neighbors. Placing your trust in international power mongers is so far different than trusting people of your own genre. Foreign governments need little excuse to cut us up like hamburger and eat us.

There is only one way to protect against huge dangers. The way is with a mightier power.
