The problem is, I have yet to hear a single politician, from either political party, on the local, county, regional, State, or Federal level, say they support 3 or 4 or 10 people getting married, or someone getting married to a pine tree. Marriage is defined by the church. There are dozens of different denominations of the Christian church, many of which support and welcome gay members. You can debate which ones are holy an un-holy, just like the Shia and Sunnis. This is a State issue. Thank God the SCOTUS is overturn DOMA and send it back to the States. If Oegon wants Gay marriage, so be it, but you darn well better recognize when Utah does not.
