This is SO reminiscent of 1980! Obama has shot his wad in advertising Romney as a scary candidate who will make things even worse than they already are and the MSM has colluded with him in promoting that characterization. When people see Romney, for the first time, in the debates their reaction is, "Hey! This guy's not scary. Obama's lying about that. What else is Obama lying about?" Carter and the media tried to do the same thing with Reagan in 1980. When the people actually saw the REAL Reagan in the debate, they said, "Hey! This Reagan guy is not scary!" I hope the election results in 2012 are also similar to the results from 1980.
An interesting story from last winter: An email friend who lives in an affluent suburb far from Washington, a staunch Republican, was watching one of the Republican debates with his wife, a staunch Democrat.

He was surprised by her response to Mitt Romney. "He's a grown-up. He's someone who is reliable," he told me she said. "People will feel safe if he is in charge."
