Good old mother earth has been changing since her birth. For anyone to believe it now has to remain static for their good pleasure merely indicates how nieve they are. We are just little parasites on this beautiful marble. Mother earth has done far worse things to herself with very little long lasting affects. What was once a violent event, now give us the beautiful area of Yellowstone National Park. Many things died and changed so that we now have a beautiful park. It can change again.

Actually it's pure humanistic elitism. Man is so brilliant that not only can he change the course of all mankind for the better, he is, of course, responsible for ruining it. This is what has always occurred when man believes he is god. If you are capable of solving all problems, anyone not solved is because of man's selfishness. (The tower of Babel, and Icarus's wings come to mind.) Believing man is god. is just the current new religion. It too will fail in the end.
