people who want their kids to ignore evolution, etc, in school....they are talking about dumbing education down?

And those who thought Sarah Palin was qualified to be anything besides a lunch preparer in a grade school? Yes, we've dumbed stuff down.

thanks for proving my point. You don't have any idea what communism means. Only the dopes join the military. And they chose to join...they have to do their job regardless of who they are protecting, just like cops.

The old dignity code has not survived modern life. The costs of its demise are there for all to see. Every week there are new scandals featuring people who simply do not know how to act. For example, during the first few weeks of summer, three stories have dominated public conversation, and each one exemplifies another branch of indignity.

First, there was Mark Sanford’s press conference. Here was a guy utterly lacking in any sense of reticence, who was given to rambling self-exposure even in his moment of disgrace. Then there was the death of Michael Jackson and the discussion of his life. Here was a guy who was apparently untouched by any pressure to live according to the rules and restraints of adulthood. join the military, how could we dumb it down any further?
and Sarah Palin is a joke to them.
the GOP becomes the Whigs or Know Nothings. No one with a college degree from a legit college is a conservative.
crying out for secession, are they? Only reactionaries seem to do that, as in 1861.

Those of us who believe in equal rights (gay marriage), free speech (music without having all kinds of labels on it), the establishment clause and separation of church and state, would be recognizable to the founders. The rest of you would be seen as the reactionaries, heck, the property-less redneck rabble that the founders disliked intensely. Do you really think that any of the founders would identify with those of you who think that the establishment clause doesn't prohibit organized prayer in public schools?

Justice Roberts' opinion in the voting rights case and emphasize that the Constitution is a living document. Or they might be shocked that black people and women can vote. Or they might be shocked that anyone who doesn't own property can vote. Or they might be shocked that Americans are soooooo dumb that they think that we would be ruling the country based on how they lived in 1787. Or they would be shocked by the influence of evangelicals who preach morality and do the opposite. No, that last one wouldn't shock them...that's the same as then.
