WSJ: “Ben Carson for President!”

Dr. Carson is absolutely correct about HSAs. We have on and love the power it gives us over our healthcare. A short example: one of us needed some X-rays to check for broken ribs. The primary prescribed one chest frontal x-ray and one side view. When the bills came in, Cigna approved the charges apparently without question. The rest was left to us to pay from the HSA. The charges were for two frontal views and one side view. One more X-ray than prescribed. The radiology lab double-dipped the prescription. We called and asked for an explanation on the double charge. After much rin around and passing of the buck, the charge for the second frontal chest X-ray was dropped and a new bill issued. Cigna was ready to pay for the fraud - we weren't

How much of that do you think actually goes on everyday in our healthcare system? "Who cares? The insurance pays for it." No, we do! Every time a fraud like this is committed, we pay for it on our premiums. 0bamacare will make that even worse as it morphs into the single payer monstrosity liberals want. Single payer will have no accountability to anyone except the bureaucrats running it. HSAs make people better consumers of health services. Rip-off artists like that radiology lab will be run out of business by an alert client base.

That’s almost the exact headline of a recent Wall Street Journal editorial that went viral last Friday and Saturday (although I must confess that I did add an exclamation point for emphasis). Anyway, for those unfamiliar with Dr. Benjamin Carson, he’s the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital and the same guy who delivered those politically incorrect remarks at the White House prayer breakfast last week. And there are two passages, at least according to the journal, that deserve your undivided attention.

Carson on taxes:

Late in his talk he dropped two very un-PC ideas....
