Excellent post lesoc! We need to re-examine what we have done to ourselves since 1965 and The Great Society. Packing off the elders to a home at Medicare expense makes it convenient for the self-absorbed. Meanwhile the kids can home from school to an empty house. Grandparents used to be able to provide some adult supervision and life long learning for children during the day. We have turned too much of our responsibility to the Federal Government. It is costly in human terms and not sustainable economically.
