Jondm, have you been to the UK recently? That culture is dying and the youth are increasingly prone to violence and apathy. You can't solve the problems of human nature by expanding the state's control over all aspects of daily life without some major consequences. Read some of Theodore Dalrymple's articles on the state of things in the UK these days. He's a retired psychologist who worked in the British correctional system and has many frightening warnings about what to expect from a culture that abandons its religious roots. Oh, by the way, he's not a believer.

It should come as no surprise that the rate of mass shootings at schools and in other public places is increasing. The surge has nothing to do with guns, which have been widely available in the U.S. for years. Gun control laws have been increasing. Instead, there is a direct correlation between the increase in violence and the gradual degradation of morals, ethics and parenting. We are cultivating mental illness in our society.
