I'm thinking that if 'we the people' insist upon a 28th amendment requiring ALL elected government officials to accept the same pay for performance and benefit package choices as the rest of the American work force (not subject to adjustment by themselves), this country might actually get back on financial balance.

Boehner Must Champion Congressional Pay Cuts

Why stop with pay cuts? I have been advocating, for almost 3 years, a 28th Amendment forbiding the U.S. Congress and Senate to regulate their own salaries AND benefits, both during and after the member's terms of service. Such compensations should ocurr only after majority approval of the legislatures of a majority of the States. Let the people decide when & if our employee representatives deserve raises, NOT the employees themselves.

Repeal the 26th Amendment!

Age should not be the the main concern, here. There are still a fair number of 18 year-olds who have their wits about them. But, there should be a certain minimum of knowledge & intelligence involved. For example, in order to be allowed to vote, one must at least be able to demonstrate the ability to recognize and name the Vice President, Secretary of State, Speaker of the House, Majority leader of the Senate, and the Governor of their own state. Failing this, the barest of knowledge about our nation's government, one should NOT be allowed to vote. However, I strongly support the need for a 28th amendment, providing for the following: "Congress shall neither make nor provide funding for any law to be applied to the people of the...

I'm no lawyer, but plain old-fashioned common sense tells me that Prop-8, formally passed by the California legislature, IS due process of law.... in that state. The 14th Amendment does NOT specify that said law has to be federal.
..... of of "El Gordo Magnifico" bureaucratic double-speak. Government's never-ending willingness to speak out of both sides of its mouth (with forked tongue to facilitate it)never fails to show an assumed stupidity among American citizens. But, wait! We are not stupid. We Americans DO fully understand that our borders are still so leaky that foreign terrorists are able to come & go pretty much as they please.
First we were told that U.S. Border Patrol agents were to be pulled from the South (Mexico)and sent to the North (Canada). Now, we are expected to swallow an increase in Southern coverage. Which is it? And, in light of recent reports of increasing Muslim - Sharia intolerant activity in the upper Mid-West (among other...

Sharia trumps Yale's free speech

In the '60's, the so-called Ivy League schools vehemently protested anything attempting to control their thoughts. They were anti- pretty much everything "establishment." Now, these self-labeled bastions of higher learning & free thought are selling out to having their thoughts & actions totally controlled by one of the world's oldest establishments-- Islamic Law.
Ivy Leaguers have become slaves to Sharia.
How ironic and pitiful!

Obama Has Enraged the "Citizen Class"

Not only do too few of us view ourselves as a 'citizen class' almost none of us see ourlselves as the ruling class. The preamble of the Constitution says it plainly: "WE THE PEOPLE of the United States........ do ordain and establish...." Wake up people! By the most basic law of the land, from its beginning, WE are the ruling authority in this country. The government exists to represent and implement our wishes, NOT to demand our blind obedience to its wishes.
One has only to read the list of complaints against a tyrannical dictator in the Declaration of Independence to realize that many of the same "abuses and usurpations" are being imposed upon us as at the time of this great nation's formation.

This is no longer just a political issue. It is fast becoming a matter of life or death for our children and grandchildren. If we fail to act decisively now, they will suffer enormously because of our failure.

Agreed! It should be interesting to discover just who those "other officers" were; equal rank, superior rank, other doctors. If superior, charges of breach of conduct might be added to the others. And, perhaps those "others" will come under some form of discipline as well.
