Their not paying much in taxes is not the fault of the companies, who simply take advantage of the provisions within the tax code (as they should do in the service of capitalism). It's the fault of a system that is far too complex and expensive to administer.

Support the Fair Tax and let's get rid of the antiquated, inefficient IRS.

I support the FAIR Tax as well, eric, but let's not lose sight of the fact that "companies like GE" do not actually pay their taxes anyway - they pass those taxes along to their customers, who pay them as a part of the cost of the goods/services.

Republicans have been forced into a Hobson's choice of either letting the Bush tax cuts expire for everyone or agreeing to a tax hike on the top 2 percent of income earners (not to be confused with "the rich," who have already made, inherited or married their money).

If Republicans object to the Democrats' hitting job creators with a tax hike, three things will happen: Taxes will go up for everyone; Republicans will be seen as the "party of the rich"; and the inevitable economic collapse will be blamed on Republicans.
