Exactly, a money grab. And the alarmists wouldn't have conferences all over the planet- they'd stay home and have virtual meetings. And anyone who truly believes that man-made global warming is going to be a disaster would personally stop consuming, stop burning fossil fuels, stop using electricity, etc., but they don't. Some eco-loons do, but the principles proponents of AGW don't (Al Gore, e.g.). Just send research dollars so they can figure out how to warp "facts" to fit their predictions and why their predictions are wrong. I'm looking forward to the discovery phase of Michael Mann's lawsuit against Mark Steyn and NRO. Should be enlightening.

Regular readers may remember last year when I shared some remarkably silly data from the “Happy Planet Index,” which supposedly showed the United States ranked below very poor nations such as Cuba, Albania, and Venezuela.

It turns out that nations got lower grades based on their energy consumption. And since energy usage is one of the key indicators of prosperity, that explains why the United States also trailed such global garden spots as Pakistan, Palestine, Iraq, Moldova, and Tajikistan.
