Sure, get rid of society's recognition of the fact that raising children, what society is entirely dependent upon for it's next generation of good citizens, is done at a huge personal sacrifice, and that it is only right and moral that society do whatever it can to encourage its people to make such sacrifices for the continuation of this society. You simply parade your personal ignorance in suggesting that recompensing parents for their personal sacrifices in providing us with the next generation is "social engineering".
