They may not believe in some nebulous concept as "Islamism" but the do believe in Islam, and when push comes to shove, and indeed it will, which side they will choose is a foregone conclusion.

It isn't a matter of ideas; it's a matter of conditioning. You cannot erase centuries of conditioning by a few years of American Idol and Government Subsidies.

The questioner, like all good Western Modernists, assumes that God is bound by the Humanistic perspective and all things that transpire and unfold must do so according to his understanding.

Until now, those who study Biblical eschatology have been puzzled by Turkey's relative freindliness towards Israel, when the prophetic writings indicate she will be a major player in the end times scenario that is inexorably developing in the Middle East. Russia has military and diplomatic ties with Iran, ancient Persia, and neither have been favorably disposed towards her, so that's never been a mystery.

But Turkey's moving against Israel and becoming a major political influence in the region with its rise in the political fortunes of the Muslim Brotherhood, along with the EU, UN, *and now* the US, setting themselves TOGETHER in an unfavorable posture towards Israel's interests, raise the stakes another notch higher, and sets...
