Party prejudice aside, it can be as simple as: when bad people are in charge, bad things happen. Corruption is a stink in a room, and that stink only gets worse over time. Until someone cleans it up it will never just go away. The worst problem America has is that we have become so lazy, or distracted, no one is willing to clean up the mess the Correct way, so that it is only done once. Yet, an even bigger problem is that the majority of regular citizens don't care. If Lon is at least on this site becoming involved why should you post harsh insults? Why not encourage a change as opposed to what your doing, throwing party slurs? Yes, Congress is doing things that are not appropriate, but it is only being uncovered now because people...

I agree with you, maybe not so harshly, because they are only taking advantage of what has been offered to them. The fault is not theirs, but in the gov. During the great depression if the gov had not fed people many would have died, either directly from starvation or many other psychological problems (suicide) that arise when all hope is gone and desperation sets. The differnce between the times was that back then the US was not a powerhouse by any means, now we have become so comfortable with our title of greatness we believe that it can sustain us. The gov continued those programs, not to sustain the everyday life of people, but to make sure that all hope is not gone to those who are in desperation, not to be confused with someone...

We do not need to "start over" to bring about change. In fact, most people would be terrified if our gov failed. What we need is to become more involved in our governing body, choosing the best leaders we can, starting from a local level. Most of the politicians that make it to high status postitions have usually started out in a local governing body. They are voted to a small office, but we as citizens do not really care because its not the Presidential race that brings about all the buzz and excitement. These politicians operate almost undetected until they eventually reach a senate or even presidential race. The populace then complains that they don't like any of the candidates for one reason or other and decide to vote for the...

"For avarice is the love of money. For ambition is the love of power. Separately they motivate paths to greatness, together they bring destruction." - The Great Wise Man C.L. I agree with the author, one of the biggest problems we, as ordinary Americans, face is: our government superceeding their responsibility to protect us in exchange for personal gains. Governments are intended to protect its people from deceit, to protect consumers from fraud, and to educate them with the best intentions for their wellbeing. Historically, people have chosen their own rules for their daily lives, whether it be from the teachings of the church or the honest beliefs of secret societies. Separation of Church and State was intended to illegalize the...
