Dr. Sowell- I have been trying to explain this to people I know for years and the blank looks I get are all anyone needs to know about the economic stupidity of the average American. People refuse to think and logic and reason are more uncommon than ever in our history. They say "Hey look at the stock market-wow" and I look at them and laugh.

Since stupidity is the act of knowing the truth but doing ot telling the opposite, that seems to sum it up nicely.

The economic repercussions of having people feel that their money is not safe in banks can be catastrophic. Banks are not just warehouses where money can be stored. They are crucial institutions for gathering individually modest amounts of money from millions of people and transferring that money to strangers whom those people would not directly entrust it to.
