In response to:

The "God-Particle" and God

Rich, do you know the basis of Dreadnought's Catholic belief system? Is this a sect like Mel Gibson? I have not known Catholics to be so non-ecumenical by design. The Catholics I know are not like this. Thank you.

That's right and I can explain it.

Every holy book selected as part of the Canon of Holy Scripture is there because the Catholic Church acting under the Holy Spirit's guidance, chose it. Many other books, some quite spiritual and holy in different ways, had to be omitted from the Canon.

Then the certified books; all judged by God as inspired, became the Holy Bible.

Over a long period of time; Bibles were hand-copied for liturgical use by Catholic monks and priests and also illuminated by Catholic artists. Many of whom were priests and monks too. It was centuries later when moveable type was invented (by a Catholic) they were more widely distributed.

Rich, he tought the scripture was written in catholic, whatever that is!
Dreadnaught011 Wrote: Jul 16, 2012 11:36 PM
Very funny, Rich.

Laugh, if it matters a lot to you. What else do you post other than scorn and spiteful lies about Christ's Church? Have you a friendly attitude to the Catholic faithful?

Or only to atheists who laugh at us for believing in God? They loved you as you came to their support. Against this old Catholic!

Sounds like liberal Democrats and some homosexuals - all disagreement is hate speech. Of course, Dread will not admit to solaphobia.

There are two Greek words for weep used in the NT. The word there for weep is used only once. It is a silent, introspective crying and not a wailing out loud as in mourning. Please don't tell Dreadnaught - he thinks that the official language of Scripture is Latin.

I meant the above as reply to Liberal's remark, "Christians are still dealing with these issues." The ToonHall server turns a post upside down sometimes.

Dreadnaught011 Wrote: Jul 16, 2012 7:35 PM

Dear Liberal:

The reason for this is explained in a parable of Jesus;

Where He says a "landowner" (HIM) planted seed which sprang up in a field. But thistles also came up, mysteriously. The servant couldn't understand why. Then the Landowner said to him, "An enemy hath done this."

The field represents Christ's Church, the kingdom of heaven. Seed means the Word of God; and His call to faith.

The thistles are seeded secretly by the devil. He hates the faithful. He always tries to defeat God, sowing false doctrines and temptations to sin and rebellion.

That was where the 'Reformation" sprang from.

P.S., Liberal;

I have no particular "belief system." Being a Catholic is merely accepting the doctrine and voice of Christ's appointed shepherds; started in the beginning at his apostles.

We adhere to the Holy Gospel as revealed by Christ to His apostles; later on the Holy Bible, and Sacred Tradition coming down historically from the early Fathers of the Church, and our Pope and the Holy Magisterium of the Church.

Dreadnaught011 Wrote: Jul 16, 2012 7:14 PM

Thank YOU, Liberal; for that question. But Rich has no clue. I could tell you completely and honestly. Just as I've told Rich.

Mel Gibson is not partial to Vatican II. He adheres to a rebellious faction of Catholics once disobedient to Pope Paul VI. That group dissented vehemently against the 2nd Vatican Council. It can be supposed Gibson dissents as well. He is, however, a baptized, devout Catholic. despite all the loony behavior.

Dreadnaught011 Wrote: Jul 16, 2012 5:15 PM

Thanks for asking. I take the ecumenical position as given by Vatican II. It's necessary for Catholics to strive for reunion with fallen away denominations where heretofore Christ's Will has been rejected. They need the full, undistorted Gospel; as opposed to their gospel of men. I have reason for being confrontational with certain hypocritical opponents. They consider their assemblies more Christian than the holy apostles!

They threw out the Gospel's baby with the Reformer bathwater!

Christian_Liberal Wrote: Jul 16, 2012 4:56 PM
Sorry, I think it was because I thought I understand your position, but perhaps I am mistaken. What is your position on the reformed churches?
Dreadnaught011 Wrote: Jul 16, 2012 4:42 PM

Dear Liberal,

Why don't you ask me the question? I assure you seriously; Rich D lives to slander me and the Catholic faith. You haven't come into an ecumenical center of Christian discussion. Over several years one thing never heard from Rich is a kind word for Catholics. Everything is always hate speech.

This is a hotbed of Catholic-bashers. Of all the contributors, I'm the sole Catholic willing to engage hypocrites and enemies of the Church.

Chris, I think he represents a significant number of catholics. but not all!

As I am not a catholic, I would now feel uncomtortable attending a catholic service.

Of couse I now feel uncomfortable attending a portestant service.
Christian_Liberal Wrote: Jul 16, 2012 3:31 PM
Not in my experience, but I don't attend Catholic services. What do you think?
inquisiteur Wrote: Jul 16, 2012 3:27 PM
Chris, Is Dreadnaught not representative of Castholicism?

If he is typical, then no wonder there is no ecumenical movement!
They found the "God-Particle."

That was the headline in many of America's news media. It turns out that the name actually derives from substituting "God-particle" for "goddamn particle," the original name some scientists had given the elusive particle. But the media adopted the former nomenclature.

Why?

Because otherwise, the bulk of humanity would not pay attention. Physicists went nuts. And no one can blame them. For decades, they have searched for the particle that may explain why there is any mass in the universe. And ten billion dollars were spent on the machine that probably proved its existence.

It is therefore not meant in...
