In response to:

Mr. Prager, You are Wrong on Marijuana

Good column. However, I did not see Mr. Bialosky address Prager's most potent arguments: -If you're getting ready to get on a plane would you prefer knowing that just prior to the flight your pilot had a martini, or that he'd smoked a joint? -If you have a daughter, would you prefer that she get engaged to a man who regularly has an after dinner adult beverage, or would you prefer her fiancé regularly smoke a joint? Of course, neither of these situations addresses the efficacy nor foolishness of legalizing pot, but since Bialosky used Prager's column as a springboard, it would be nice if he had addressed these particular arguments.

Considering alcohol is involved in a significant number of domestic violence cases, and marijuana does not cause violence...I'll take the fiance with the joint.

Not to say the alcohol would be a deal-killer, either...Chances are that the fiance will not need a new liver at 50 if he doesn't hit the 'adult beverages' too hard.

The "situations" are distractions, presented to sway the reader's emotions, not logical capacity. Addressing them gives them more credence than they deserve.

These "arguments" are really a matter of opinion, not a matter of fact.

The pilot argument. He is not comparing apples to apples. Who decided that 1 joint is the equivalent of 1 martini. If the question was a little more general such as: Do you prefer your pilot to smoke marijuana (unspecified amount) or drink alcohol (unspecified amount) before flying the plan? I would chose Marijuana in a heart beat.

Smoking Marijuana in excess does not alter a person behavoir nearly as much as drinking alcohol in excess.

Most people would disagree with you on their pilot's pre-flight "routine".

In his column of March 12, 2013, my beloved friend wrote on the issue of legalized marijuana in the state of Colorado. On his radio show, he justifiably bemoaned readers of his column who had written comments questioning his sanity and their relationship over this one issue despite years of being Prager groupies. I will not do any of that. But for only the second time in our long relationship, Mr. Prager, you are dead wrong on a topic … but I still love you.

We Baby Boomers grew up in a generation where marijuana made the jump from the dark...
