Marijuana: Another Gift of the Left to America's Youth

I've noticed that a number of conservatives are opposed to laws that prohibit the sale and use of a mind-altering, mind-numbing gateway drug like marijuana. You may not be aware of it but if you want legalized marijuana, you are adopting a leftist mind set, a leftist way of thinking that is counter to the thinking that motivated our founding fathers to declare our nation's independence and establish the rule of law through our Constitution. Please note, I'm not questioning your conservatism, I'm just pointing out that it is a leftist mindset that says, "Don't try to use laws to push YOUR morality on ME." Such a mindset tends to ignore the fact that "no man is an island." Marijuana use affects us all, not just the user.

Since our founders actually GREW hemp, they would be amazed that we would allow government to usurp the authority to outlaw ANY substance. If you are a "conservative", you need to point to the text of the Constitution that allows the federal government to pass laws against marijuana, etc.

Trust this: NO Conservative pushes for what they know will be a total disaster. They're only Libertarian pretenders just like Communists infesting the Democrats.

“Libertarianism is to authentic conservatism what Barack Obama is to 19th century liberalism”

c, conservatives do not believe

in individual liberty
ConcealedCarry Wrote: Mar 12, 2013 10:37 AM
True conservatives believe in individual liberty inextricably linked with individual responsibility.

Aww... it's probably too complex for you, agitator. Hey! Maybe you should go someplace far far away and spend the day trying to figure it out!! --- PLEASE!

When young kids are being encouraged to partake in this cr@p before being able to understand the consequences, then the line has to be drawn. Do we let anyone do anything anytime, anywhere, with anything in the name of individual liberty?

c, not too complex.

libertarians do not believe in conditions.

"libertarians do not believe in conditions."

I hate to sound patronizing, but you're conflating libertarian-ism with anarchy --- you DO know what patronizing means, DON'T you???

If it's not hurting anyone or anything, why not? Who died and left you in charge of other people's lives?

Re: ConcealedCarry,
-- True conservatives believe in individual liberty inextricably linked with individual responsibility. --

Individual responsibility means having the freedom to choose the right thing, C, and not having the government browbeat that choice onto you.

If you were really sincere about individual responsibility, you would advocate for the repeal of all anti-drug laws. Since I haven't seen that, then what agitator proposes (as much as I hate to admit it) is true: You couldn't care less about individual liberty OR responsbility, because you can't trust individuals with their own lives and bodies.

c, yes

what is the difference between libertarianism and anarch?

Denver television station CBS4 reports that Colorado has seen a sharp spike in marijuana use among teenagers since Colorado voters passed Amendment 64 last November legalizing recreational use of the drug. As described in The Economist, along with a Washington State measure also legalizing marijuana, Amendment 64 is "an electoral first not only for America but for the world."

That means two American states are to the left of the Scandinavian countries, Holland, and every other liberal country regarding marijuana.

CBS4 quotes a number of local high school students:

"I've seen a lot more people just walking...
