Edward Kennedy was corrupted by power--power he attained during 47 years as a Senator.
He literally got away with murder: I hope Mary Jo Kopechne is in Paradise, and that her sins have been forgiven. If "Dubya" or Ronald Reagan had done something like that, Kennedy would be the first to bring impeachment proceedings against them.

Apparently, this new administration does not appear to be aware that we peons still have our freedom of speech rights, as well as the right to take care of our own bodies. The proposed bill distinctly rules out fee-for-service and the right to go to the MD of one"s choice: when my carcass alerts me that there's something wrong, I'm going to get it treated (if that is not going to get criminalized?)
As a practicing, politically "non-aligned"
(forgive the choice of words)catholic, I am getting so frustrated and angry with the management and rank-and-file of the church who think that EVERYONE WILL GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING regarding health care. The clergy will be in no position to complain about lack of quality care once health care is socialized and the elderly bishops, cardinals, and professed religious will have their care rationed (even in their own hospitals, assuming that they will still exist!) I do not like the abolition of fee-for-service: read the more salient points of that 1500+ pages of foolscap--
it will pretty much be criminalized. Obama nor
Jay Rockefeller like people to pay from their own pocket.

Health Care - Out of Pockets

Those maligned, greedy, capitalistic pig drug manufacturers have been providing medicines for individuals who have been caught in a financial bind for free or at a nominal cost--that does not appear to have had a devastating effect on their profits. Under Marxist Health Care, the companies might not do that anymore, as they might be eliminated.

The Other 'Hispanic' Nominee

The nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the
Supreme Court was not rabidly endorsed by the
Latino population en masse. This is not surprising: the Latino population in the US is
not a united front politically. The US Latinos
(chicanos) are not well-liked nor respected by the other types--Puerto Ricans, immigrants from
Mexico and the other Spanisih-speaking countries
of Central and South America, and those from the
Caribbean Island nations. The Puerto Ricans are
much more assimillated than the rest of the
Latino population, which does contribute to a form of class envy amongst the ethnic groups. Also, the Cubans are very frustrated that other
Latinos tend to be ignorant of their plight, and they are...
I live in a border city (El Paso, TX and Juarez,Chih, Mexico. I would dare to predict that many of us will risk losing our lives to cross the border in order to save them! How idiotic, paradoxical, and dangerous, to have to go see a physician in Mexico when we really don"t have to! Mexican MD's and allied health care providers will reap a financial bonanza if
Americans risk the anarchy to get their health care in Mexico: good for them if our health care system gets taken over by Communist legislators (I WILL NOT apologize for using that word!) Harry Reid, Nancy Pelozzi, and Obama all sound like them.
I wonder how many of the elderly citizens are "pro choice" and voted for the Marxist Plantation Stooge who has very effectvely muted all public discourse on this matter. ongressmen and Senators are also to blame for not protecting the right to free speech and public discourse, and not standing up to the enemy within. When the rubber of pro choice sentiments hits the road of approaching hard core Marxism, I wonder how many of these folks are starting to think what will happen to them?
They will not be able to pay from their own pockets for needed treatment (that may be considered a crime!) They'll be led to a slaughterhouse in the name of utilitarian politics (ethics is NOT an appropriate word in these...

A large number of people here in El Paso are
already crossing the border into Mexico to get their health care; they are willing to risk their lives to get health care, given the political and security situation along the US/Mexico border? WHY DOES IT HAVE TO COME TO THIS??? I have no quarrel at all with the Mexican Health care system nor its professionals--their best MD's are US and European trained and speak English as well as other languages. The point is: US citizens shouln't have to resort to this, as do our good
Canadian neighbors (who also, in a surprisingly
large number, go to Mexico and the South American countries for their health care).
Does the word "Communist" mean anything anymore?
OF COURSE CONGRESS IS NOT GOING TO OPT INTO THE MARXIST HEALTH CARE SYSTEM THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO SHOVE DOWN AMERICANS THROATS! The so-called "People's Reprepsentatives" are like Communists in that they want everything for them and nothing for everybody else? Are there any other people out there who think like me? Is there anybody out there who has any suggestions on how we can safeguard our personal freedoms? I'd like to know.
