Economics vs. 'Need'

Armen Alchian Oh my an immigrant. Immigrants have many impacts.... Here is one observation. A boss no longer has to pay a highly skilled worker to perform basic tasks (that immigrants do). That lowered the overall cost of construction, increasing the number of jobs the company could book, which meant more customers and more money. It reminded me of how so many restaurants operate. Without undocumented labor performing routine tasks, meals, which factor labor costs into the price, would be more expensive. There would also be fewer jobs for waiters and chefs.
The amtrak I see running in my state is pretty well jammed full.
Quote form Joe Biden “The Secret Service doesn’t like me traveling back and forth to Delaware on the train. They concluded it gives too many opportunities for people to interact with me in a way they wouldn’t like to see them interacting. And so they fly me back and forth,” Biden said, reminiscing about the nearly 8,000 times he traveled back-and-forth between Delaware and Washington by train as a senator.

Better Republican Communication Needed

The republicans insist on budget cuts, well they should be happy now they got em. Now let the people judge if they like the cuts and who to vote for in the next election.
warmer temperatures will result in 40,000 fewer deaths in the United States annually, saving $20.0 billion (maybe twice that now adjusted for inflation). Well now how about the extreme weather we have been having all around the world that was predicted way back in the 80's that severe weather would be the first expression of climate change. Hurricane sandy coming up on 60 billion, 2011 intense drought across the mid west came in at 40 billion, The joplin mega tornado over 2 billion and many lives lost just to name a few. 2010 saw the heatwave and fires though-out Russia, Australia has suffered first record breaking floods and this past year heat waves that broke all records at 120 degrees. OH YEh climate change isn't really real.

Barack Obama and the Teachable Wage

Walk in the shoes of a waitress for a day and you will understand the need for a raise in minimum wage. They don't even draw minimum wages they supposed to make it up in tips. Maybe in some expensive ritzy restaurants they might but no where else. I worked as a waitress, my friends were waitresses and I took one home after work one night. She invited me into her modest little home. Clean as a pin but there was not a stick of furniture in it. Another whose husband had lost his job would ask to spend the night with me because she didn't want to sleep in their car.

The Devolution of Chris Christie

You have to admit the response in NYC was faster, more efficient than the response in New Orleans. Wantta bet the New Orleans folks noticed the difference especially when they went to the ballot box.
Black children being raised without fathers. Black girls and women who become pregnant and know they do not have a stable home in which to raise a child seek an abortion. They are forced to have a child they know they are not able financially to raise nor have a stable home in which to raise the child.
"HUGE problem with healthcare spending". Yes there is a problem with out of control costs for health care. 4 months ago my husband stepped on a pincushion I had left lying on the floor and ran a needle all the way into his heel. We couldn't see the end of the needle to pull it out. The doc took an x-ray and said it had to come out as needles tend to move and could end up in his heart or lungs. Into the emergency room for surgery, where they sliced open the side of his foot and removed the needle. As I sat in the waiting room there was about 20 people there waiting for care. ONLY one looked to be an emergency. It was the poor with no money nor health care insurance to get care. The bill for the surgery on his foot was $15,000.00.

St Michael the Archangel Versus Al Gore

chicaree Wrote: Feb 10, 2013 5:51 PM
Its an insult only to those who believe that Al Gore doesn't know what he is talking about. He does and soon there will be no doubt that he and the thousands of climate researchers are correct. By then the planet is going to be in real distress, and population unrest will follow. Its already plainly in view. Add up the costs of these extreme weather events, billions for the drought, billions for each of the super hurricanes, billions for the flooding. Expenses to dredge the Mississippi river because the water is so low they had to shut down barge traffic between Cairo Illinois and St Louis. The forest fires that raged through the southwest and Colorado....just a taste of what is coming.
