Actually, not at all.

Republican believers in limited government such Coolidge, Goldwater & Reagan are very much the exception in Republican leadership. From the beginning the GOP has been a progressive big-government party.

I didn't realize this until after W became POTUS and the GOP ignored constitutional limits & spent like crazy. But in reviewing history, that is par for the course.

If we want the GOP to be the party of limited government, we will have to take it over. My idea is to vote for good conservatives in the primaries - but if a socialist is nominated, we should vote for a good limited-government 3rd party candidate on the ballot so the GOP sees how many votes they lost by running a...
